Enjoy Today.

"You will never have this day with your children again. Tomorrow they will be a little older than they were today. This day is a gift, breathe and notice, smell and touch them, study their faces and little feet and pay attention. RELISH THE CHARMS OF THE PRESENT. Enjoy today Mamma, it will be over before you know it." - Jen Hatmaker

Addie Monroe - 32 Months

Addie Girl,
Your vocabulary has completely exploded in the past few months, the descriptive words that have come out of your mouth (like "huge", "steep", "smallest", "permanently", "enjoying") make our jaws hit the floor! You are our smart little sponge! The other day you heard the garbage truck outside and it was really loud and you thought it was thunder and you came into the bathroom and announced to me that "a storm was forming." You are two years old and a meteorologist in training!

The weather has been gorgeous and you are really enjoying our almost daily trips to the playground. You aren't scare of anything and you jump/climb/slide on everything there! You also like to walk along the curb around the park and balance on it. You explore in the little patch of woods and bring me and bubba all kinds of leaves and pinecones. Recently you've decided you like to ride in the back seat of the stroller instead of the front, so you get a change of scenery on our walks!

You have become quite my little assistant in the kitchen. Anytime you see me cooking you tell me you want to help and you really love to stir up eggs and brownie mix and add spices to our dinners. You stand on your little white stool at the island and even crack eggs for me! Its fun to have your company in the kitchen and you take such pride in the food you help me prepare.

Lately you haven't wanted to anything without your little brother. You ask him to join you in the bathtub and playing outside and watching movies on the iPad. You even ask me to bring him in your room so he can "jump" on your bed with you. I love to watch you bonding with him. When he is napping, you always ask where he is and when he starts crying you are first to go comfort him and say "You ok bubba?" You have such a sweet little heart!

Your favorite movies right now are Beauty & The Beast, Princess & The Frog, Up and Barbie's Mermaid Tale. Your favorite TV show continues to be Little Einsteins. You still hold a place in your heart for Mickey & Minnie. Daddy and I took you to Mickey's Music Festival and you loved it until you put your hands over your ears and said it was "too loud" and you wanted to go home!

Chocolate remins your favorite treat and your favorite dinner right now is pizza. You want to eat EVERYTHING with ketchup, even your crackers!

It won't be long until you are 3 and even more of your "baby-ness" will slip away, so we are soaking it all up while we can.

Love you Sissy,
Mamma & Daddy

Tatum Jack - 9 Months Old.

Tater man,

I cannot believe you are 9 months old already!  We are 3 months away from your first birthday and the time has gone much too quickly.

You are starting to crawl and can go from the sitting to crawling position in a flash! You are so mobile all of the sudden, squirming and scooting and even pushing yourself backwards to get to what you want.  Your favorite toys right now are your crawl ball that flashes and rolls, your tiny workbench and your teething keys that make car noises. I think your most favorite toy of all is your big sister. You guys sit in her room and play and play and play happily and I love hearing her interact with you and your happy squeals when you are together.

I'm pretty sure the only person you love hanging out with more than your big sister is your Daddy. You are two peas in a pod and sometimes I look at you guys and fast forward many years in the future to you working on cars together, up on the roof putting on Christmas lights and fishing and hunting. It is such a special bond.

Bathtime is so much fun for you. You sit in the tub with Addie like a big boy and even splash her! She has met her match. You love it when she dumps water over your head and it makes you splash and splash even more.

You are a chunky monkey! I weighed you today and you are almost 22 pounds! It will be time for a big kid car seat soon.  You are still eating 30-32 oz a day and you love love LOVE your baby yogurt, it is your favorite.  You are having fun playing with finger foods and put them to your mouth but you aren't really interested in eating them.  I can tell you are going to be very picky about textures!

No teeth yet, but working very hard at working them through!

You've been sleeping like a champ, 6pm-6am and are taking two naps a day.

My favorite time of the weekday is after you and Addie's naptime. All the chores are done, dinner is prepped, outside time is over, learning time is over and I curl up with you and your sister on my lap for snuggle time and we watch a movie on the iPad. Right now we've been watching Up over and over and I don't even care we are watching it for the 5,000th time because it is my quiet time with the two of you. To hold you close, smell the top of your sweet baby heads and take it all in.

You are our precious boy, we are not ready for you to grow into a toddler yet, but when you do, you will always be our sweet angel baby.

Love,
Mama & Daddy

Adversity.

"Mommy, look at all of your things!" I hear a tiny voice exclaim from the closet this morning.

It was coming from my two year old, who had joined me in the bathroom as I got ready for the day.  She started naming things, as she does constantly these days, "All these shoes in here! All these make-ups!"

She then started counting and I smiled, watching your child learning never gets old.

Let's just say our family has seen our share of adversity the past year.  We lost loved ones, faced serious health issues with my husband and our infant son, have had multiple repairs needed for our home and appliances, my suburban was recently stolen, the list goes on.

This isn't a pity party, I promise.

The point is, it is easy to get pulled down by all the negativity, especially when it seems like you are being kicked while you are down. It would be easy to throw your hands up, admit defeat.

But your power through. We band together, we hunker down we love each other and we make it. If our house burned down around us (I am soooo not tempting fate right now, it is a metaphor), my little family would still have each other.

My two year old teaches me lessons constantly about charity, love, forgiveness, gratitude, without even knowing it.

"Mommy, look at all of your things!" That's right baby girl, we have so so much.

Tuesday Cuteness.

The only way this could be any cuter would be if he were holding a basket of tiny puppies.

To Have A Big Sister.

Right before he got into Addie's purple bath and had a tea party. We might have to play with trucks and watch the Spike channel this afternoon to go ahead and cancel that out.
